About Boechera breweri (S.Watson) Al-Shehbaz
Boechera breweri is a perennial herb that grows from a woody, branching caudex. It produces hairy, upright stems that reach up to approximately 20 centimeters tall. A basal clump of leaves grows around the caudex; these leaves are oval-shaped, up to 3 centimeters long, and covered in forked hairs. A few smaller leaves grow higher on the plant, with bases that clasp the stem. Its flowers have thick pinkish-dark purple sepals, and spoon-shaped petals that range in color from pink to lighter purple. The fruit is a long, thin, ascending purple silique that can grow up to 6.5 centimeters long. This plant is native to northern California and southern Oregon. It grows in rocky areas of mountains and valleys, including the northern Sierra Nevada and the Klamath Mountains.
