About Bitis rubida Branch, 1997

This species, Bitis rubida, was first described by Branch in 1997. The maximum recorded total length, which includes both the body and the tail, is 41.9 cm (16.5 in) for females, and 37.7 cm (14.8 in) for males. Several isolated populations of this species occur in the northern Cape Fold Mountains and the inland escarpment of Western Cape Province, South Africa.
