About Bipalium javanum Loman, 1883

Like most other species in the genus Bipalium, Bipalium javanum has a distinctively broad, hammer-like head that is roughly one centimeter wide. It has a slender body that can grow up to 20 centimeters long and 0.5 centimeters wide. Both ends of its body are rounded. The dorsal (upper) side of the body is shiny black, while the narrow creeping sole on the ventral (lower) side is white. The pharynx is located on the ventral side, and the eye spots are positioned on the dorsal side.
