About Bibio imitator Walker, 1835

This species, Bibio imitator Walker, 1835, reaches a total body length of 6.5–7.5 mm, with wings that measure 6.5 mm long. It has an overall black base coloration, paired with brown smokey wings. Male individuals have a dense covering of yellow pile across their bodies. Female individuals have a rufous-colored head, thorax, and abdomen. With the exception of the coxae, the legs of female Bibio imitator are colored dark reddish-brown to black.
