About Betula fruticosa Pall.
Betula fruticosa Pall. is a plant species that grows up to 3 metres (9.8 ft) in height. It has glabrous branches that are colored either purplish-brown or grayish-black. Its petioles measure 2–10 millimetres (0.079–0.394 in) in length and are hairless, just like its branches. The species' peduncles are typically 2–5 millimetres (0.079–0.197 in) long, and may occasionally reach 10 millimetres (0.39 in) in length. Female individuals of this species have erect, oblong inflorescences. Its bracts are ciliate and 4–7 millimetres (0.16–0.28 in) long, and the species produces elliptic nutlets. Flowers bloom between June and July, and fruits ripen between July and August.
