About Berlandiera pumila (Michx.) Nutt.

Berlandiera pumila, commonly known as soft greeneyes, is a North American flowering plant species belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is native to the southeastern and south-central United States, where it occurs in the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina. This species is a branching herb that can grow up to 100 cm (40 inches) in height. It produces several flower heads, which bear yellow ray florets and maroon disc florets. It grows in open areas including fields, roadsides, and woodlands. B. pumila favors sandy soil types. It can be found in turkey oak hardwood sand ridges, on the borders between sandhills and hammocks, and in longleaf pine-wiregrass sandhill communities.
