About Benhamina obliquata (G.B.Sowerby I, 1825)

Benhamina obliquata (G.B.Sowerby I, 1825) is a species of air-breathing sea snail, a false limpet, and a marine pulmonate gastropod mollusc that belongs to the family Siphonariidae. Compared to other species in the Siphonariidae family, this species reaches a much larger maximum size. Benhamina obliquata is the only species classified within the genus Benhamina, meaning the genus Benhamina is monotypic. This species is endemic to New Zealand. The generic name Benhamina was given to honor William Blaxland Benham, a British researcher who specialized in oligochaetes and polychaetes.
