About Bellardia viscosa (L.) Fisch. & C.A.Mey.
Bellardia viscosa (L.) Fisch. & C.A.Mey. is an erect annual herb. It grows a stiff, slender stem covered in hairs and sticky glands, reaching a maximum height between 50 and 70 centimeters. Its leaves are hairy, shaped from lance-like to oval, and edged with several teeth. The inflorescence is a raceme of flowers growing at the tip of the stem. Each flower is tubular: the sepal calyx extends along most of the length of the corolla, which can be over 2 centimeters long. The lobed, lipped corolla is yellow, and has a glandular, sticky texture. This species is a root hemiparasite. It parasitizes plants in the Poaceae and Fabaceae families, and inhibits the health of its host species.
