This begonia is native to a broad range of countries across the Americas: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Venezuela, and Cuba. It is classified as regionally extinct within its native range in Cuba.
