Begonia decandra, commonly called native begonia or corazón de poeta, is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Begoniaceae. This species is found exclusively in Puerto Rico. It is an understory herb that releases red sap from its veins when crushed. The plant favors low light conditions, and exposure to excessive light can sometimes cause the plant to die. Its white flowers most often bloom between the months of April and October.
