About Batrachyla leptopus Bell, 1843
Batrachyla leptopus Bell, 1843 is a species of frog that belongs to the family Batrachylidae. This species is distributed across Argentina and Chile. This frog can live in a wide range of habitats, including forests (such as Nothofagus forests), swamps, bogs, and areas near ponds and lakes. Observations by scientists have recorded this species at elevations between 50 and 1100 meters above sea level, and the frog has been documented living in many protected parks. For reproduction, female Batrachyla leptopus lay their eggs under logs or on moss. When subsequent rainfall floods these egg-laying areas, the tadpoles hatch and complete their development swimming in the new standing water. Parental care behavior has been reported for this species.
