About Barnardia numidica (Poir.) Speta

Barnardia numidica is a bulbous flowering plant. It is classified in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae, which is also sometimes treated as the separate family Hyacinthaceae. It is currently one of only two species placed in the genus Barnardia, the other being B. japonica. However, existing evidence indicates that B. numidica is not closely related to B. japonica, and that it should be moved into its own separate genus.
