About Barbatia candida (Helbling, 1779)

Barbatia candida, commonly known as the White-bearded ark clam, is a species of clam belonging to the family Arcidae. This species can be found along the Atlantic coast of North America, where its distribution ranges from North Carolina to Texas, and it also occurs in the West Indies. It is noted that the World Register of Marine Species (WORMS) does not accept this classification, and the currently accepted classification for this taxon is Cucullaerca candida (Helbling, 1779).
