About Barantola pulcherrima Walker, 1864
Barantola pulcherrima is a species of moth belonging to the family Depressariidae. It was first described by Francis Walker in 1864. This moth is found in New Guinea and Australia, where it has been recorded from the Australian states of Queensland and New South Wales. It has a wingspan of approximately 15 mm. Its forewings are a fairly dark grey colour. A red streak runs along the basal third of the costa, and this streak is bordered below by an ochreous-white streak. The posterior end of this ochreous-white streak forms an oblong spot that is surrounded by a dark grey line. A broad yellow streak, edged below with red except on the fascia, runs along the middle third of the costa, and this streak ends in a suddenly pointed apex. Slightly before the middle of the forewing there is a rather narrow, straight silvery-white fascia that ends above at the yellow streak. This fascia is bordered on its front edge by red, on its back edge by dark grey, and then more broadly by red. A second rather narrow silvery-white fascia, edged all around with red, runs from below the costa at the two-thirds point of the costa to the apex, then continues along the hindmargin to the anal angle. The hindwings of Barantola pulcherrima are white.
