About Banyutus lethalis (Walker, 1853)
Banyutus lethalis is an African species of antlion. It has been proposed as a mimic of another gregarious African antlion, Hagenomyia tristis. The two species can be distinguished from one another: Banyutus lethalis has longer antennae and a bicoloured pterostigma. Both species fly together in groups through long grass, and can be collected alongside one another. The larvae of Banyutus lethalis do not build pits, while the larvae of Hagenomyia tristis do build pits.
