Balta notulata, whose scientific name is Balta notulata (Stål, 1860), has the common name small-spotted cockroach. It is a species that belongs to the genus Balta. By the 1960s, this species had spread across the region extending from Sri Lanka, through Japan, to Easter Island. By the 1980s, it was already established as a domiciliary cockroach in Madang Province.
