About Balanomis encyclia Meyrick, 1887

Balanomis is a monotypic snout moth genus that was described by Edward Meyrick in 1887. Its only species, Balanomis encyclia, was also described in Meyrick's 1887 publication. This species is native to Australia, where it occurs in regions including New South Wales. It has additionally been introduced to New Zealand. Specimens of Balanomis encyclia have been reared from native dodder, Cassytha paniculata.
