About Baileya pleniradiata Harv. & A.Gray

Baileya pleniradiata Harv. & A.Gray is an annual herb. It grows a branching, woolly stem that ranges in color from light gray-green to nearly white, reaching up to half a meter in height. Its leaves can grow up to 8 centimeters long, and may split into a few lobes. Each inflorescence holds just one flower head, which sits on a peduncle up to 10 centimeters (4 inches) long. The flower head has a center made of yellow disc florets, surrounded by a fringe of bright yellow ray florets. The ray florets are sometimes arranged in two or more layers, and each grows up to one centimeter in length. Its fruit is a sharply angled achene that is a few millimeters long.
