About Baeckea diosmifolia Rudge
Baeckea diosmifolia is a shrub that usually grows no taller than 60 cm (24 in). Its leaves are lance-shaped, with the narrow end pointing toward the base. Each leaf measures 2.1โ4.5 mm (0.083โ0.177 in) long and 0.5โ1.5 mm (0.020โ0.059 in) wide, and sits on a petiole roughly 0.2 mm (0.0079 in) long. The flowers of this species are up to 5.5 mm (0.22 in) wide and are more or less sessile. They have linear to lance-shaped bracteoles that are 1.2โ2.8 mm (0.047โ0.110 in) long, and these bracteoles fall off as the flower opens. The plant produces five sepals 0.5โ1.0 mm (0.020โ0.039 in) long, and five more or less round, white petals 1.2โ2.8 mm (0.047โ0.110 in) long. There are between seven and nine stamens, and the style is about 1.0 mm (0.039 in) long. Flowering occurs mainly from December to May, and the mature fruit is approximately 2 mm (0.079 in) in diameter. This species of baeckea grows in wet heathland along the coast and nearby tablelands of New South Wales, ranging south to the Budawang Range and inland to the Goulburn River. In Queensland, it is only known from a single population near Crows Nest, though there are older records of it growing in Brisbane suburbs.
