Baccharis texana, with the full scientific name (Torr. & A.Gray) A.Gray, is a North American shrub species in the Asteraceae family. It has two common names: prairie baccharis and false willow. This species is native to two regions: northeastern Mexico, including the states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas, and the southern Great Plains of the United States, including the states of Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Baccharis texana grows as a shrub or subshrub, reaching up to 60 cm (2 feet) in height. It produces narrow leaves and numerous small flower heads, and it is typically found growing in grasslands, hillsides, and mesas.
