About Baccharis articulata (Lam.) Pers.
Baccharis articulata (Lam.) Pers. is a species of shrub in the Asteraceae family, also commonly known as carqueja. It was first described by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, and later reclassified by Christiaan Hendrik Persoon in 1807. This species is native to parts of South America, specifically to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. It can be found growing in the Paranaese forest, and has also been introduced to Spain. Baccharis articulata has a number of medical uses in traditional folk medicine. It is traditionally used to treat liver diseases, digestive disorders, and urinary infections. In Brazil, it is also used to treat diarrhea in cattle.
