About Axonopus fissifolius (Raddi) Kuhlm.
Axonopus fissifolius (Raddi) Kuhlm. has leaf blades that can be either folded or flat, with fine hairs along their margins. Mature leaf blades may turn purple or reddish in color. This species is native to the southeastern United States, ranging from Virginia west to Texas, Grenada in the Caribbean, and all of Central and South America. It has been introduced to parts of Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific Islands. It can be found growing in sandy forests, pine flatwoods, and poorly drained grasslands.
