About Axinotarsus pulicarius (Fabricius, 1777)

This species, scientifically named Axinotarsus pulicarius (Fabricius, 1777), measures 2.75 to 3.75 millimeters in body length. It has a reddish-yellow pronotum marked with a broad, black median band. The beetle's head and elytra are shiny, and range in color from bright grey to nearly black. Axinotarsus pulicarius is native to Europe, where it has a broad distribution across the continent, but does not occur in northern latitudes or the Southern Mediterranean. It has also been introduced to North America, where it has been recorded in the Pacific Northwest, specifically the Greater Vancouver area, as well as further inland near the Great Lakes in the Greater Toronto area.
