Austrostipa scabra, formerly classified as Stipa scabra and commonly known as speargrass, is a widespread tussock grass species native to southern and central Australia. This species has two recognized subspecies: subsp. scabra and subsp. falcata. Reports of its mature height vary, with some stems reaching 15 centimetres (5.9 inches) tall, and other stems growing up to 60 centimetres (2.0 feet) tall.
