About Austroargiolestes calcaris (Fraser, 1958)

Austroargiolestes calcaris (Fraser, 1958) is a species of Australian damselfly in the family Argiolestidae, and is commonly known as the powdered flatwing. It is endemic to south-eastern Australia, where it lives in streams, deep pools, and bogs, usually in mountainous regions. This is a medium-sized to large damselfly that is black with pale yellow markings, and becomes strongly pruinescent when it reaches maturity. Just like other members of the family Argiolestidae, it rests with its wings held outspread. Austroargiolestes calcaris looks very similar to Austroargiolestes isabellae, a related species that lives in the Sydney Basin.
