Austroaeschna obscura Theischinger, 1982 is a large dragonfly species in the family Aeshnidae, commonly called the Sydney mountain darner. This species is located in the Sydney Basin of Australia, and lives in rivers and streams. Austroaeschna obscura is a very dark dragonfly that has distinct pale markings. It looks similar to Austroaeschna multipunctata, the more widespread multi-spotted darner.
