Austroaeschna christine, commonly called the S-spot darner, is a species of large dragonfly that belongs to the family Aeshnidae. This species was formally described by Theischinger in 1993. It is found in the area around Eungella National Park, located in North Queensland, Australia. Within this region, it lives in the upper reaches of small streams. Austroaeschna christine is a dark-colored dragonfly that has pale markings. It looks similar to two related species: the sigma darner, Austroaeschna sigma, which occurs in mountainous areas of northern New South Wales and southern Queensland, and the multi-spotted darner, Austroaeschna multipunctata, which is found in the mountains of southern New South Wales and Victoria.
