About Augea capensis Thunb.

Zygophyllum augea is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Zygophyllaceae. It is native to the region stretching from Namibia to the western Cape Province of South Africa. Carl Peter Thunberg first described this species in 1798 under the name Augea capensis Thunb. When this species was transferred to the genus Zygophyllum in 2018, a new replacement name had to be created, because the name Zygophyllum capense had already been published to refer to an entirely different species.
