About Atys semistriatus Pease, 1860

The maximum recorded length of Atys semistriatus Pease, 1860’s shell is 6 mm. The shell is thin and transparent, with a whitish color and a faint bluish tint. It has spiral bands of fine, thread-like white striae. The apex is narrowed and slightly umbilicated, while the middle section of the shell is clearly inflated. The columella is short, relatively straight, and truncated at its lower end. This marine species is found in the tropical Indo-West Pacific region, specifically off the coasts of Madagascar, Hawaii, and French Polynesia, as well as in the waters around Taiwan and Australia (Queensland and Western Australia).
