Atrapsalta encaustica (Germar, 1834) has a forewing length ranging from 15 to 18 millimeters. This species is found in certain elevated areas of south-eastern Queensland, the Warrumbungles, the Pilliga Scrub, and the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. Its distribution range extends south along the coast to the border of Victoria. Habitats associated with the species include open forest, montane heath, and coastal temperate heathland.
