About Athous bicolor (Goeze, 1777)

Athous bicolor (Goeze, 1777) is a click beetle species that reaches an adult length of 8–10 millimetres, which is 0.31–0.39 inches. Its body is fairly elongated, covered in fine pale pubescence. It has long mid-brown antennae, and its elytra have clear longitudinal ridges and small pits. Males of this species have a pronotum that is much longer than it is wide, while females have a pronotum that is only slightly longer than wide, with a faint lateral rounding. The elytra are ochre yellow with a dark band along the suture; the head and pronotum are dark brown, and the hind angles of the pronotum are olive. This species is widespread across most of Europe, ranging from Russia through South and Central Europe to the Iberian Peninsula. It inhabits grasslands and areas with low vegetation and herbaceous plants.
