About Ategumia ebulealis (Guenée, 1854)

Ategumia ebulealis, commonly known as the clidemia leafroller, is a moth species belonging to the family Crambidae. Achille Guenée first described this species in 1854. It is naturally distributed in Central America, the Antilles, and the southeastern United States, specifically the states of Florida and Georgia. It was once believed to have been introduced to Hawaii, but later research confirmed the species released in Hawaii was actually Ategumia matutinalis, not A. ebulealis. This moth has a wingspan of approximately 18 mm. In Florida, adult Ategumia ebulealis are active in January, from March to April, and from June to December each year. The larvae of this species feed on Heterotrichum umbellatum and species from the Clidemia genus, including Clidemia hirta.
