About Astragalus neglectus (Torr. & A.Gray) E.Sheld.
Astragalus neglectus (Torr. & A.Gray) E.Sheld. is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows 30 to 90 cm tall. It bears alternate compound leaves that each hold 11 to 25 leaflets. Clusters of 10 to 20 white or creamy flowers grow from the upper leaf axils of the plant. Its fruit develops as an inflated pod. The distribution range of Astragalus neglectus is centered around the Great Lakes, and it also grows from Manitoba and South Dakota east to Massachusetts and Virginia. This species is rare across most of its range. It can be found in open, often rocky habitats that range from wet to dry, and it especially occurs in calcareous sites. Open habitats that support this species require natural disturbance to remain suitable for growth.
