Astragalus anemophilus Greene is a small perennial shrub. Its stems are often buried in the sand where this species grows. Its flowers are greenish white. Its purple seed pods measure roughly 0.5 inches (13 mm) by 0.75 inches (19 mm) across. This plant grows in coastal sand dune habitat located in and around the San Quintín Volcanic Field, including the El Socorro dunes south of San Quintin bay.
