Astraeus morganii is a false earthstar fungus found in south-central US and Mexico, closely related to Astraeus pteridis.
Astraeus morganii is a species of false earthstar fungus that belongs to the family Diplocystaceae. This fungus is distributed from central to southern United States, with its range extending southward into Mexico. It is closely related to the species Astraeus pteridis, but differs by having smaller fruit bodies and larger spores. Its specific epithet is named to honor American botanist Andrew Price Morgan.
