About Asteranthera ovata (Cav.) Hanst.
Asteranthera is a monotypic plant genus belonging to the Gesneriaceae family, native to the humid temperate forests of Argentina and Chile. The only species in this genus is Asteranthera ovata, an evergreen scrambling vine. This plant has small, rounded leaves with scalloped margins. Its flowers are tubular and two-lipped, and are red with white markings. Asteranthera ovata blooms in summer, and can be grown as either a climber or a ground cover.
