About Aster ageratoides Turcz.

Aster ageratoides Turcz. is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial that grows to around 75–90 cm (30–35 in) tall. Its leaves are dark green, toothed, lanceolate, and entire. It produces stellate flowers, most commonly violet, pink, or bluish with yellow centers, and blooms from early to late autumn. The fruit is a brown achene that measures approximately 2–3 mm (0.079–0.118 in) long. This species is widely distributed across Asia, including China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. It typically grows in mountainous areas at elevations between 1,500–2,500 m (4,900–8,200 ft). Ongoing research indicates that extract from Aster ageratoides may help reduce Alzheimer's disease-related cognitive deficits and improve symptoms of vascular dementia.
