About Asplenium flabellifolium Cav.
Asplenium flabellifolium Cav. has short, erect rhizomes covered in small, dark-brown scales. Its fronds grow 10 to 20 cm (3.9 to 7.9 inches) long, and hold 5 to 20 pairs of pinnae, or leaflets, that are most often fan-shaped and sometimes lanceolate. The fronds are flaccid and typically droop. Spores develop in elongated sori on the underside of the fronds. This fern’s natural habitats include open forest or scrub, rainforest, and grasslands. It most commonly grows on the ground or on rocks, but may occasionally grow as an epiphyte. It is often found growing in rock crevices, within caves, on fallen logs and tree trunks, alongside streams, and near cliffs or waterfalls.
