The shell of Ashfordia granulata measures 5–7 mm by 7–9 mm. It ranges in color from whitish to pale brown, and is thin and translucent. The shell bears fine straight hairs that have bulbous bases. It has 5.5 to 6 convex whorls separated by a deep suture. The aperture is simple, with a thin lip or no lip at all; reflection of the lip only occurs along the columellar side. The umbilicus is very narrow, and is partly covered by the reflected columellar margin. The mantle has black spots. This species occurs mainly in Ireland and Great Britain (England), with small native populations found in France and Spain. The eggs of Ashfordia granulata are 1 mm in diameter.
