About Artorima erubescens (Lindl.) Dressler & G.E.Pollard

This epiphytic orchid has a thick rhizome and a broad conical-ovoid pseudobulb. The pseudobulb bears 3 to 6 elliptic to oblong-lanceolate leaves that measure 20 to 120 cm long. It produces a loose terminal panicle that holds 6 to 100 fragrant flowers, which bloom from winter through early spring. This species grows in the ever-cloud forests of the highest peaks of Guerrero and Oaxaca, southern Mexico. It occurs at elevations between 2,400 and 3,100 meters, in habitats ranging from cool to cold.
