About Arthurdendyus triangulatus (Dendy, 1895)

This species, Arthurdendyus triangulatus, is a flatworm. Adult flatworms have a pale buff ventral surface and a dark brown dorsal surface. Young individuals range in colour from white to pale orange, and develop the characteristic adult colouration as they grow. During the day, these flatworms rest on the soil surface beneath objects that are in close contact with the ground. They may also hunt for earthworms below the soil surface. For reproduction, this species produces egg capsules that are approximately 8 mm long. Newly produced capsules are shiny, flexible, and cherry red, and they darken to black after several days. After an unknown incubation period, multiple tiny, pale flatworms hatch out of the now brittle capsule. Only one egg capsule is produced at a time, and the capsule forms a clearly visible bulge on the adult worm's dorsum.
