About Artemia monica Verrill, 1869
Artemia monica, commonly known as the Mono Lake brine shrimp, is a species of brine shrimp that is endemic to Mono Lake, located in California, United States. It is a sibling species of Artemia franciscana, a brine shrimp species that is widespread across the Americas and has also been introduced to other regions. Although these two species are closely related, they are completely unable to interbreed, due to their differing water requirements.
