About Arremonops chloronotus (Salvin, 1861)

Arremonops chloronotus, commonly known as the green-backed sparrow, is a bird species belonging to the family Passerellidae. This species occurs in Belize, northern Guatemala, western Honduras, and southern Mexico. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and heavily degraded former forest. There are two recognized subspecies of Arremonops chloronotus. Arremonops chloronotus chloronotus inhabits the Caribbean slope and southeastern Mexico, ranging from Tabasco and northeastern Chiapas to southern Yucatán and Quintana Roo; it is also found in northern and eastern Guatemala. Arremonops chloronotus twomeyi occurs in the Olancho and Yoro departments of north-central Honduras.
