About Aroga velocella (Zeller, 1839)

Aroga velocella (Zeller, 1839) is a moth species that belongs to the family Gelechiidae. In Europe, the species is present across most of the continent, with the exceptions of Ireland, Iceland, and Croatia. Outside of Europe, it can be found in Turkey, the Caucasus, and Siberia’s Transbaikalia region. Aroga velocella has a wingspan ranging from 14 to 19 mm. Adult moths are active in May, and again in August. This species produces two generations each year. The larvae of Aroga velocella feed on Rumex acetosella, feeding inside a silken gallery at the base of their host plant.
