About Armeria pungens (Brot.) Hoffmanns. & Link

Armeria pungens grows as a small shrub, reaching approximately 80 centimetres (31 inches) in height. Its stems are lignified at the base, robust, and highly branched. The leaves are glabrous, ranging from linear to lanceolate in shape, with pointed tips. They measure about 60โ€“150 millimetres (2.4โ€“5.9 inches) long and around 1โ€“3.5 millimetres (0.039โ€“0.138 inches) wide. The flowers are pale pink, arranged in globose heads at the tops of long pedicels. This species flowers from May through July. It is endemic to Sardinia (Italy), Corsica (France), Portugal, and Spain. Its natural habitat is coastal sand dunes and beaches, growing at approximately 0 to 1 metre (0.0 to 3.3 feet) above sea level.
