About Aristotelia paradesma
Aristotelia paradesma has a wingspan of approximately 17 mm. Its forewings are whitish, and are irregularly sprinkled with light grey. Grey suffusion runs along the inner margin of the forewings, extending from the base to the anal angle. There is a small blackish spot on the costa, located almost at the base, and a black dot below the costa at one-fifth of the wing length, with a second larger black dot below this dot on the fold. At one-third of the wing length, there is a thick, irregular-margined, somewhat oblique blackish transverse streak that runs from beneath the costa to the fold. Two black dots are positioned nearly longitudinally in the middle of the disc, and a third black dot is located in the disc at three-fourths of the wing length. The hindwings of this species are grey. Aristotelia paradesma is endemic to New Zealand, and has been observed in both the North and South Islands. Both Hudson and T. H Davies considered this species to be rare, but in more recent assessments it has been classified as relatively common.
