About Aristobia approximator (Thomson, 1865)

Adult Aristobia approximator usually measure between 19.5–36 mm (0.77–1.42 inches) in length. This species has a black body marked with yellow-orange spots, and black tufts on the basal segments of its antennae, which makes it similar to its close relative Aristobia reticulator. The two species can be distinguished by the location of these antennal tufts: A. approximator only has tufts on its 3rd antennal segment, while A. reticulator has tufts on antennal segments 3, 4, and sometimes segment 5.
