About Arisaema pusillum (Peck) Nash
Arisaema pusillum (Peck) Nash is a herbaceous, perennial flowering plant that grows from a corm. Like other species in the Arisaema triphyllum complex, each of its leaves has three leaflets. Across most of the area where it grows, it is a relatively small plant, and seldom grows taller than 3.5 decimeters (14 inches). In Georgia and Florida, individuals of this species can reach up to 1.2 meters (47 inches) tall; some botanists classify these larger southern plants as a separate species, Arisaema acuminatum. Arisaema pusillum is found mainly in the eastern United States, ranging from Louisiana and Mississippi northward to New York and southern New England. Some sources state that its range extends as far north as Ontario and Quebec in eastern Canada, while other sources say it does not grow beyond New York and southeastern Connecticut. In the southeastern United States, it is common across the Appalachian Mountains, from northern Alabama to West Virginia.
