This species, scientifically named Argyresthia goedartella (Linnaeus, 1758), has a wingspan of 10–13 mm. These are very small moths, with pale ochreous heads, white antennae, and white forewings marked with coppery-golden patterns. A distinct coppery-golden Y-shaped marking sits in the middle of the forewings. Their hindwings are dark gray. The abdomen is grayish fuscous, and the legs are brownish white. This very common species occurs across most of Europe and in North America.
