About Argyresthia brockeella (Hübner, 1805)

Argyresthia brockeella (Hübner, 1805) is a species of moth in the family Yponomeutidae. This moth occurs across Europe, eastern Siberia, and Japan. It has a wingspan of 9 to 12 mm. Its head and thorax are white, while the forewings are deep coppery-golden. A spot on the base of the dorsum, a fascia at 1/3 wing length, three posterior semioval costal spots, and a larger tornal spot on the forewings are all shining white. In some individuals, the fascia is connected to the adjacent costal and dorsal spots. The hindwings are grey. Fully grown larvae are pinkish-brown with brown heads, and the segment plate on the second larval segment has a partial blackish edge. Adult moths are active from May through September. The larvae of this species feed on the catkins of birch (Betula spp.) and black alder (Alnus glutinosa).
